Wow..all of those years of rsc-rs2 (ive played for 7 years) ive watched the rise, and fall of runescape..
jagex what were you thinking? I dont have the first clue of what you were thinking when you did this to us.

Some of you may have seen the updates that have been announced today. It is quite large and I will assume that you already know what is its. If you need briefing, read the front page. Many people are already livid over what has happened. Many people are probably contemplating quitting this game, and many
have probably already cancelled their subscriptions. It would be a great stretch of the imagination to say that I am happy about what has come out today. These updates have changed the core of how the game will be played. In fact, Jagex has done many things that make me rather frustrated.
I do know, however, that there is a reason for all of these things. Everything that Jagex does is for the greater good of Runescape. This also means that is it is for the greater good of the players. Today, Jagex had to make a decision that may well have been the most difficult to date regarding this game.
I must commend their audacity, and even more, their ability to make an executive decision. They knew that many would not approve in the short term, but they were looking ahead a few years down the road.
As there are obvious drawbacks to the updates, we should look at the bountiful aspects of progress that this has made: Real World Trading is finished. More content can be developed with the resources that no longer are dedicated to stopping RWT. Jagex is the first game to take this bold stance, which I believe that this is the route a true gamer would
take. The new updates are actually pretty good.
There are many more, and this game can now function better than ever. Jagex did what it had to do. Had is the key word. They had to. They tried every other option. A stereotype has been set about how Runescape is supposed to be played. Those of us that have played for a few years might be disappointed and afraid of this drastic change. There is no reason to be. Runescape can now become what it was intended to be.
I give tribute to the old way, but here's to a better Runescape! "

"Yes, I may very well be one of the longest playing people left with this game. I began playing around the year 2000-2001. Before party hats were even dropped! Back when rune 2hs cost over 10 million and rune was purple instead of blue. I'll admit, i've taken many breaks from the game but ive always managed to come back for a little more fun and entertainment.
One of the only reasons I have enjoyed this wonderful game so much is that I have always been able to trade with good friends and my brother. I am currently at college and this game is the only way my brother and I stay in contact. We constantly trade each other things and help each other out. I give him 100k for food because hes a pker and he gives me a bunch of herbs because I love herblore. But 3k difference in trades every 15 minutes? I dont think so Jagex...
I've stuck with this game through dozens of updates I completely hated. No more holidy tradable drops, the grand exchange, ext, ext. But this is the final blow for me.
To tell the honest truth, Runescape tought me a lot about the economy in the real world. I learned that if you hold on to some things they grow in value. I learned that its always possible to find things for lower prices. I learned that if buying mass quantity you can get things cheaper. I have been able to apply all of these things in my real life.
I feel that the trading in Runescape was probably the most crucial aspect of the entire game. Without it, there would be no economy, no advancing in skills, no nothing. Because without trading no one can get resources or anything else. And in my opinion (and thousands of others), Jagex has finally killed trading and managed to kill themselves as well.
After a loyal 8 years with Runescape its finally time I throw in the towel and leave this game for others to enjoy. I can no longer play a game which holds no joy for me anymore.

I can understand the whole pking update, I personally don't care one way or the other because I like both versions of the wildy, but thats not the point of this thread.
The point is Jagex's stupidity with this trade limit!
For anyone who doesn't know: The update, due out in January, will limit the DIFFERENCE anyone can trade by 3,000 coins.
SO for example of a horrible outcome;
Player A is selling an item worth 100k.
Player B wants that item, and approaches player A asking to buy it.
Player A spots an item that player B is wearing, and offers to trade items rather than cash.
Player B accepts, and they begin to trade.
While in the trade window, there is a problem. The item player A put up is valued at 97k in the Grand Exchange, while the item player B put up is values 89k. Player A doesn't mind the small loss in cash, in fact, it's more convenient than having to find the item he needs later on.
BUT, of course Jagex in their infinite wisdom decided to put a limit, and that difference is beyond 3k. SO, no, tough, we don't like RWIT, so we're punishing everyone else.
Now for the part which makes me the most angry.
Jagex is taking away the freedom that the game once had. They now control market price, what you can and can't trade, where you can and can't attack someone, what you can and can't stake, I could go on for a while, and they continue to do so.
Really Jagex, you're caving in to pressure. The government continues to take away freedom's for "security" reasons, and I used to respect you for not caving in. Now, I've lost all respect.
Here's the choice: Freedom, or security. What do you choose?
Security from the rule-breakers, or the freedom to do what you want. You can't have both, but Jagex made up your mind."

2) 1/3 of runescape members are pures. how do pures make their money? with pking, but with the new updates they are making pures usless and lets see what 1/3 of all the members on rs and mulitiply that by $7 and thats all the money thats out the window.

with out trading there will be no more law running, or any running for that matter. there will be a decrease in trade.
runecapes economy is ruined. the prices of items will never change. thats never any good.

The grand old trade of merchenting is now ruined on runescape. merchanting is healthy for the economy. it helps items go down after alot of them have been introduced into the game and it makes players without any special skill some good money.

as a level 108 i have been playing for quite some time, around 5 years to be exact, and ive been mad at many updates i must say, like how pest controls changed. that made me mad. but this update is causeing me to quit this game. isnt that saying somthing.

Over my years of playing I have acquired a level 121, and have started a rune pure.

I had respect for you, had. Before you became money driven and drunk with your own ambitions. Blind to the real needs of the players. Overreacting to RWTs, Going to such drastic measures to ensure their defeat. After these poor updates I would just adapt to the situations at hand. But this- I cannot, No more.
Player-killing was a HUGE aspect of the game for me. It set apart RuneScape from other MMO games out there today. None could compare to the trill of Pking, Getting respect in the wilderness, And making a profit at it too. Not a bad occupation if you ask me.
I plea with you Jagex, Even though I know nothing will change. Come down from your over sized egos. See what your doing to the game millions came to love. Open your eyes, you took away what made RuneScape, RuneScape!
As for me- This was the last straw, I am not going alone. This will cause MANY of RuneScape Veterans As myself, to quit. While you were to busy envying the income of your enemies. You are losing thousands of dollars in member ship fees.
I just thought I would do my part towards this update. Such a shame it had to end this way. Jagex, what happened to the team we used to know and love, Not the sell outs we hate.
Could there be more settle ways to achieve your goals? Maybe instead of totally killing the wilderness, Make it so there is a combat restriction for players,to fight? Around five (+ or -) Combat levels to engage a fight. Perhaps
Just perhaps.. make a quest for the ability for the player who killed the person to plunder the tombstone? and acquire the loot he rightfully killed.

RuneScape - a cheap game that keeps on giving. Every month, more and more is released for you to do. For the same price. Very few places elsewhere will offer you that.
Their game, their name, their choice. They knew it was coming. And they chose to go ahead. The updates work very well. I believe the cap should be changed a bit, something more like 20k, but aside from that, it's good.

" After browsing through the vast amount of rants seen on the recent updates post (many of which I do agree with), I realized, there will be no more drop parties with the new update (lol of all things thats what struck me first).
Got a new 99 that you worked 300 hours on to get? Just finished 160k high alchs to get 99 mage? Celebrate by flooding a chat area now with congrats and dancing...but certainly a drop party isn't allowed anymore.
Quitting rs for good? Plan on never playing again? No fears, all your items will sit and rot in your bank, your friends will never touch a single one of them, and you certainly can't drop them in one big going-out celebration.
This isn't a huge deal, it was just one of the better ways to celebrate anything, or just have fun.

"I noted a repeated theme in the Jagex messages today - a concern about unbalanced trades.
I have been out of the game for a few months and I'm wondering if giving things to other players is (or will soon become) illegal.
[Note that the reason I haven't been playing is that two of my best friends - a grandmother and her grandson - were banned, and the only reason we can think of is that they loaned very expensive (like 3rd age) items to each other. The computers saw a number of "unbalanced trades" but failed to notice that they were between the same 2 people.]
Thus, my concern.
Since I've been back, a few friends have given me items (I had given all my items away when I quit). If I am endangering their characters, I will certainly not permit them to give me anything. I know what it's like to have a high-level character taken away!
So...given the implicit messages today...is gift-giving soon to be an illegal activity? What do you think?
EDIT: Jagex mods have posted at least 3 times on this thread, so please don't post things like, "Jagex, we need an answer." Just scroll through and look for the gold background, if you're only interested in what Jagex has to say. I find the comments of others just as illuminating, however.
